Or...How to REALLY encourage Habits of Mind including Thinking Flexibly, Persistence, Using Humour, etc!!
We challenged our abilities to work cooperatively with people we don't usually work with - Miss H chose the cooperative groups this time. We're reflecting on the challenges this provided and how easy / hard it is to work with people whose learning styles, etc may be very different to our own. (This will also tie in with Multiple Intelligences learning as well as Habits of Mind).
I found it hard to cooperate with people I had never worked with before and it was also hard to use the spagetti sticks

We found the Marsh mallow challenge really really challenging because the spaghetti kepts on falling down but not staying up. It was long but when we try and stand it up it keeps on falling down and then the spaghetti was beginning to break into peices.

First I thought this challenge was going to be easy but when we started it was really complicated because we had a time limit and we had a amount of accessory we could use. But I thought it was a good experience working with other people that I haven't really worked with because I got to know them a bit more.

DeleteSometimes, we don't realise how much learning can happen and how much we can gain from working with many different people. Your comment shows that you are becoming a skilled reflective learner Timothy.
DeleteWOW!! What a challenge we had.
ReplyDeleteA metre string, a metre tape, 20 strands of sphagetti and one marshmallow and 18 minutes to build the most highest tower in the world. As you can see Jasmine's group had won the marshmallow callenge all because of teamwork. It was a challenging, the whole class were trying to make thier tower stand.
It was AWESOME!!!

It's great to always see the support and praise you give the others in the class team. This is what makes you such valuable role models in our learning environment and the school in general. Proud of you!
DeleteMy group found it a little hard.At the end of it we started to work as a team,Then at the time it was finished it couldnt stand up

What made it the best challenge girls? What was different in this challenge from, say, the string challenge last year? (Do you remember that one - the one where you got tied up in knots trying to untangle each other with the string round your wrists). :-)
